It's no news that Bartolo Colon had been struggling as of late.  Today however he was able to halt his 3 start losing skid with a 7-5 victory over the A's.

Colon was great, going 7 innings and allowing just 2 runs on 8 hits.  He also struck out 4.  Curtis Granderson gave Colon an extra boost when he hit a 2 run shot in the 5th inning.  Andrew Jones and Eduardo Nunez also helped with a couple of RBI's each.

Oakland looked like they were going to rally late when they knocked in 3 runs against David Robertson and Mariano Rivera, but Mo prevailed in the end and was able to get save number 25 thanks to a big catch by Mark Teixeira to end the game.  The Yankees take the weekend series against Oakland 2-1.  The only problem for the Yankees is that the Red Sox continue to roll.  Boston beats Seattle 12-8 today, keeping the Yankees 3 games out of first place.

The Yankees start a series at home against to Mariners tomorrow.
