After resigning as the head coach of the New York Giants last week, Tom Coughlin appears to have emerged as the lead candidate for the head coaching position with the rival Philadelphia Eagles.

Coughlin has also been linked to the San Francisco 49ers head coaching position as well.

Coughlin spent 12 years as the head coach of the Giants after spending eight years as the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

He led the Giants two Super Bowl championships but hasn't made the playoffs since the 2011 season. He also led the Jags to a pair of AFC Championships in his tenure. He has a career coaching record of 320-170.

The Eagles are looking for a head coach after firing Chip Kelly, despite making the playoffs in two of his three years.

While it would hurt Giants fans to see Coughlin with the Eagles, it makes a degree of sense. He knows the NFC East and the Eagles are not a team set for a total rebuild. They have pieces to work with immediately.
