Things were looking up for Dale Earnhardt Jr. this season. He won his first race since 2008, made the Chase and looked like a viable contender to win it all this year. But bad luck has once again hit Earnhardt Jr as he will miss the next 2 races in Charlotte and Kansas due to a concussion he suffered during the big wreck in the last lap of the race in Talladega. This will end any chance of him winning the championship.

This not only ends his chances of winning the championship but also breaks his streak of 461 consecutive starts. Regan Smith will take over for Earnhardt Jr in the #88 Chevrolet.

It was this huge wreck last week that caused the concussion, taking out 25 drivers last week in Talledega.
