The Deanna Marie Rivers (518) Memorial Softball Tournament is taking place today at the College of St. Rose Athletic Facilities in Albany.

The event begins at 3 p.m. and runs until the championship game ends. A full schedule of events can be found below.

The tournament honors Deanna Rivers, a Shenendehowa senior softball player who was killed in a tragic northway crash in 2012, along with her friend and fellow Shen athlete, Chris Stewart.

The tournament rosters are made up of Capital Region senior softball players. The 2013 tournament had players from 26 different high schools participate. Four teams and more than 50 total players make up the rosters.

The day-long event will feature a 50/50 raffle and event merchandise/memorabilia, in addition to concessions. All proceeds will go to benefit the Deanna Marie Rivers Foundation, which has an emphasis on giving back to the local youth community.

Admission is $3 for adults while children under the age of 12 are free. If you want to make a donation, please email the foundation at deannamarieriversfoundation@yahoo.com. Read more here about the tournament.
