Earlier in the week the Devils punched their ticket to the Eastern Conference Finals.  After failing in game six, the Rangers will have their chance in Saturday's all exciting game seven from Madison Square Garden.

New York Rangers: After scoring a magical, miraculous win on Monday - tying the game with just six seconds left in regulation and winning it a minute and a half later in overtime - the Rangers had the chance to take the series and advance to the Eastern Conference Finals on Wednesday.  Unfortunately, the Blueshirts picked a bad time to play one of their worst games of the playoffs.  Though they had been down late in game five, New York had looked the better team.  In game six, however, they were thoroughly outplayed.  Beaten to loose pucks, taking bad penalties, looking lost on power plays, and forgetting their defensive marks, the Capitals had a 2-0 lead late, and a garbage time goal would do little to compensate Ranger fans.  And so once again, the Rangers will head into a game seven at Madison Square Garden looking to keep their playoff hopes alive.  They'll need to come out infinitely more aggressive and with a higher compete level to do it, but don't expect the Rangers to back down.  It's another game seven.  Cardiologists everywhere rejoice.

New Jersey Devils: The Devils look to be still riding a second half hot streak that saw them rocket through the NHL standings.  After doing away with a weak three seed, the Florida Panthers, the Devils steamrolled through a Flyers team that had just steamrolled through the Eastern Conference favorite Pittsburgh Penguins.  Their unique combination of defensive strength and ever threatening offense proved too much for the Flyers - a team who seemed to wilt from the moment over the five game series.  The Devils now sit and wait for their Eastern Conference opponent - either a Capital team that they'll host or a Ranger team for whom they'll make the short drive to Madison Square Garden.
