Fans of the Albany Devils got their wish, a chance to see more games at the Times Union Center. Albany sneaks into the playoffs despite a late season collapse, and since they've gotten some help from New Jersey, they could be a tough out before they re-locate to Binghamton next season. New Jersey had a lousy year, but their reinforcements sent back to Albany will help their AHL affiliate win playoff games. If nothing else, they owe it to the Albany fans.

As we wait for the final two regular season games to play out and the playoff matchups and schedule to be released, we know this Saturday's "Fan Appreciation" game won't be the last for the Albany Devils at the Times Union Center. With giveaways included, Saturday's crowd should be big and then I would expect the passionate hockey fans in the area to turn out for any and all playoff games, but what about the casual fan? There must be some feelings of nostalgia that will bring people through the turnstiles. From the glory days of the River Rats to the current Devils, these will be the last glimpses of professional hockey in Albany.
