Losing a playoff game is tough. Losing when the other team plays your game better then you is awful and that's what the Jersey Devils did in game 5 Wednesday Night at MSG.

Using few opportunities and then holding on Jersey wins 5-3 to take a 3-2 lead in the series. Game 6 is back in Jersey Friday night.

The devils scored 3 times before the beer on tap got cold, including a fortunate goal off the back of the skate of  the Rangers Artum Anisimov. For Ranger Goalie Henrik Lundqvist this was EASILY his worst game of the playoffs. he looked sluggish and slow and the Devils took advantage. The King was beaten  over his blocker on a goal by Travis Zajac, the 3rd goal of a 3 goal splurge in period 1 by NJ. Stephen Gionta scored  at 2.43 of the 1st period to start the binge.

However as is the Ranger way this team never quits and they charged back again scoring a goal before the period ended as Brandon Prust rammed it behind Martin Brodeur.

The Rangers scored early in the 2nd period and another early in the 3rd. The tying goal actually was a bad misplay by Brodeur. The game stayed tied as the Devs tried to hang on as the Rangers sent wave after wave after wave after Brodeur. marion Gaborik tied the contest at 3 and the Rangers kept coming. However the Devils started to finally push back and it resulted in the go ahead and winning goal by Ryan Carter with 4.24 left. Jersey added an empty netter to salt it away with 32 seconds left.

The 3-2 deficit in games is a familiar position for NY. They trailed 3-2 to Ottawa in round 1 only to win game 6 on the road and win the series in a game 7 at home. If the Rangers win thr series it will require their 3rd series of 7 games.
