Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki is one mean tambourine player.  The 2011 NBA Finals MVP showcased his skills at an Avett Brothers concert Sunday night.

Dirk Nowitzki made a guest appearance during an Avett Brothers concert in Grand Prairie, TX on Sunday evening.  Dirk grabbed a tambourine and got down like he was one of the best tambourine players in folk-music history.  You typically don't see 7-foot musicians rockin' out on stage, which is why Dirk might look a little out of place.

I think Nowitzki did a respectable job jammin' folk-music style though.  Listen, I'm certainly not the authority on all things folk music, but Dirk appears to be slapping the tambourine in acceptable fashion for a folk song.  I think it's cool that Dirk got on stage and let loose.  Props to the best-shooting big man in the NBA.

Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks were swept earlier in the NBA Playoffs by the Oklahoma City Thunder 4-0.  Oak City is one game away from closing out the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals.  Game 6 is Wednesday night at 9pm ET.  You can hear the NBA Finals beginning on June 12th on 104.5 The Team, ESPN Radio.
