To say that I find the timing of these charges resurfacing "convenient" would be a bit of an understatement. New Detroit Lions Head Coach Matt Patricia has ties to the Capital Region from his days at Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute. While at RPI Patricia played football and was the Vice President of the Theta Chi Fraternity. He and his frat brother Greg Dietrich went to Spring Break in South Padre Island, Texas where they were accused and charged with aggravated sexual assault.

Obviously that is a very serious charge and by no means do I intend to make light of it but the timing of the Detroit News article is a little odd to me. The alleged incident took place on March 15th, 1996 and the charges were dismissed after the alleged victim refused to appear in court. Now that Patricia is the head coach of the Lions and the news cycle is slow, this story surfaces? Forgive me as I step up onto my soap box for a minute but as Americans we're "innocent until proven guilty" and Patricia was never found guilty and has lived 22 years since this supposedly happened and never had it resurface? HE was in New England with the Patriots from 2004 to 2017, one of the franchises that scandals seem to always be around and no one dragged this out? This seems like a personal attack or possibly just a reporter trying to make a name.
