ESPN NFL and fantasy football insider Field Yates joins us every Thursday thanks to our great friends at Mohawk Army Navy. Today we focused pretty heavily on the Thursday Night matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers. Not just about the importance of the outcome for the AFC West but also whether or not Philip Rivers is going to have a legit chance at winning the MVP.

Field didn't dismiss the idea of Rivers winning the MVP but didn't sound like it was really possible. Basically, Drew Brees and Patrick Mahones have a more compelling story to support them winning the title of league's Most Valuable Player. I'm not sure I agree. I think this is one of the best years in his career and he's had a pretty special career. The one thing missing is a Super Bowl and winning tonight in Kansas City could go a long way towards getting him there.
