Eglow’s Bat & Arm Helps Albany Academy Advance in Class B Baseball
Mike Eglow rapped a triple, double and single and pitched effective relief to propel Albany Academy past Ogdensburg Free Academy (Section X), 12-7, in a Class B regional semifinal baseball game on Tuesday.
The Cadets used an eight-run fifth inning to ice the decision.
Robert Sprague fired a two-hitter and Jeff Johnson slammed a triple and three RBI to lead Fort Ann over Crown Point, 9-0, in Class D regional semifinal play.
In Class AA regionals, Baldwinsville (Section 3) turned away Columbia, 6-1. Scott Orr pitched a three-hitter and Tim Gaule connected on a homer.
Unbeaten South Glens Falls blanked Malone Franklin Academy (Section X), 10-0, in a Class A regional test. Lindsay Sullivan hurled a three-hitter. Kristen Matuszak and Mallory Celeste each rapped two hits and three RBI.
Greenwich knocked off St. Lawrence, 6-0, in Class C regionals. Rachel Albrecht pitched a complete game with nine strikeouts. Dani DeGregory led the Witches with two triples, two singles and two RBI and Ashleigh Maines added a triple, single and two RBI.
Shenendehowa’s season came to an end losing to Cicero-North Syracuse, 7-2, in a Class AA regional final. Sydney O’Hara had a four-hitter and slammed a two-run homer to help her cause.
Briana Swota blasted a homer and Taylor Fitzgerald stroked a double and RBI for Shen.
In Class D regional finals, Fort Ann beat Crown Point, 9-1. Molly Bailey spun a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts.
