For over a week we had been hearing that the Red Sox and Cubs were working on a deal to send Theo Epstein to Chicago.  Epstein got tired of waiting and officially resigned as Red Sox GM yesterday.

It was known that this offseason, Theo Epstein would be joining the Cubs.  The Red Sox were being a bit difficult in letting him go though so Epstein has decided to quit to speed things up.  In a statement yesterday Theo announced that he was going to resign from the team.  The move, according to the statement the move is effective immediately.

According to ESPN Boston, the two teams have decided on a deal to compensate Boston for Epsteinit probably isn't what the Red Sox were initially looking for.  The two teams will hold a news conference on Tuesday to make things official.
