The Yankees had an uneventful off-season last year, will this winter be the same?

"I think it’s going to be a lot like last year," said ESPN's Buster Olney. "The Yankees at the trade deadline were positioned there waiting for deals to fall into their laps with second tier and third tiers deals. That’s where they’re going to be.

"I think they might go out and spend for a right handed hitting second baseman. I am curious to see if they join the group of teams who’s going to join Ben Zobrist, who’s 35 years old and is probably going to get 20 teams offering him the same. He’s not going to get a five year deal at his age. I don’t know if the Yankees would get in on that.

"I think it’s more likely that they’ll reinvest some money in their bullpen. Darren O’Day is a really interesting guy. I think there’s some people in the organization that believe the Yankees are most likely the ones to sign O’Day.

"I don’t think they’re going to go in heavy because they don’t have a lot of payroll flexibility because they still have to ride out the back end of some of these contracts. They’ve got one year left with Mark Teixeira, they’ve got one year left with Carlos Beltran, they have two years left with C.C. Sabathia and they have two years left with Alex Rodriguez."

The big year that Buster believes the Yankees are preparing for? 2018 with both Bryce Harper and Eric Hosmer as free agents.

Hang in there Yankee fans, your patience will be needed.
