Former UAlbany DE Andre Coleman Heads To The CFL
Former UAlbany defensive end Andre Coleman is continuing his professional football career up north.
On Tuesday, he signed with the Calgary Stampeders of the CFL.
Coleman had a brief cup of coffee in the NFL. He was signed by the Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2007. The 6-foot-3, 287-pound defensive end was on the Chargers’ practice squad for 3 years.
The Buffalo native played 2 games for the Chargers back in 2009. He was activated for the Monday Night Game against the Oakland Raiders on September 14th – becoming the first UAlbany player to play in an NFL game.
A first-team All-Northeast Conference performer, Coleman had 42 tackles and led the Great Danes in hits for a loss (13.0) and sacks (6.0) as a senior in 2006. He was named to the Sports Network FCS Mid-Major All-America Team.
