FIFA Presidential Election
The corrupt organization that is FIFA, is about to elect their new president as the former, Sepp Blatter, is set to step down amid a series of corruption allegations.
The five candidates competing for election are Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, Sheikh Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, Gianni Infantino, Tokyo Sexwale and Jerome Champagne. FIFA's 209 member committee will vote today to elect the new president. Kuwait and Indonesia do not have a vote as they are suspended, leaving 207 nations are left to vote. If a candidate wins two thirds of the vote they are automatically elected after a first round. Otherwise voting moves to a second round where a majority share of the vote is required to win.
Th United States has been in support of candidate Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein as he is seen as the candidate who would make FIFA a bit more translucent. The favorite to win the presidency is Sheikh Salman as he has the most support among voting countries.
