Union baseball star Jake Fishman is now catching the attention of the national draft experts:

Belinsky calls Fishman "definitely interesting on the mound" and says his draft interest is legitimate. His fastball ramps up to 92 MPH from the left side, which would make him among the most notable Division III prospects in the draft.

Fishman is 4-0 this season for the Dutchmen, tossing 35 innings and allowing just two earned runs. He has an ERA of 0.51. Opponents are hitting just .211 against him and he has registered 51 strikeouts in those 35 innings.

I can remember Division III prospects being taken that I played against so D-III prospects getting taken is not unheard of. Burnt Hills grad Dave Filak was drafted out of Oneonta, as was Watervliet native Chris Salamida. I played against players from Cortland, Ithaca and Keystone that all got drafted too.
