Despite being injured with torn thumb ligaments, the Jets are set to start Ryan Fitzpatrick this weekend against the Jaguars.

The following comes from the Cimini article:

Fitzpatrick, who confirmed he will need surgery at some point, wore a protective glove on his left hand and said he practiced without limitations. He said he is "extremely confident" he will be able to play that way Sunday as the Jets (4-3) attempt to snap a two-game losing streak.

The Jets need a win this week and Fitzpatrick's toughness should be applauded as he is willing to battle through injury.

It also doesn't say much for Geno Smith that the team would rather play an injured Fitzpatrick then give him another shot under center.

It also doesn't say much for the development of Bryce Petty, who isn't ready to step in yet - or the free agent market if nothing is available.

The Jets take on the Jaguars on Sunday at 1 p.m.
