Per the following press release from the UAlbany athletic department, Guilderland graduate and former UAlbany lacrosse player Cody Futia is returning to the Danes as part of the coaching staff.

ALBANY, N.Y. – UAlbany men’s lacrosse coach Scott Marr has announced that former UAlbany defenseman Cody Futia has returned to serve as a volunteer assistant for the 2015 season.
“I am thrilled to be back at my alma mater and the team I played for,” said Futia. “I am looking forward to being a coach and helping the team this season.”
Futia, a local product from Schenectady that went to Guilderland High, served as a close defenseman for the Great Danes from 2011 to 2014.  A three-year starter, he helped UAlbany win a pair of America East titles in 2013 and 2014.
Futia played 64 games with 51 starts, causing 44 turnovers and scooping 53 ground balls.  He earned America East All-Conference Second Team honors each of his last three seasons and America East All-Academic Team twice, graduating with a 3.70 GPA in business administration.  He was an America East Man of the Year Finalist in 2014.
Futia has served as a youth lacrosse coach in the area and is a member of the Kni­ghts of Columbus.
