According to ESPN's Rich Cimini, Weatherford was doing his Saturday morning radio show at 98.7 ESPN New York whenever he got a call from Jets GM Mike Maccagnan to join the team immediately.

Weatherford was able to jump on the plane before it left for Foxborough and will be active in Sunday's game against the Patriots.

Jets punter Ryan Quigley was a last-minute addition to the injury report with a sore shin, so Weatherford seemed to be the most logical replacement.

Weatherford was a member of the Jets in 2009 and 2010, most recently a part of the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants over the last four years, until the G-Men released him before the season began.
