A milestone last night for a former Capital Region star as former Union hockey player Shayne Gostisbehere scored his first NHL goal.

Gostisbehere is in his second season with the Flyers after helping lead Union to the national championship in the 2013-14 season.

As a defenseman, he's not counted on much to score. He scored only 29 goals in four years as a Union hockey player.

But nonetheless, this will be a night to remember for Gostisbehere and the Union hockey family.

The bad news? The Flyers lost, 3-2, to the Kings.
