Tonight, another former Tri-City ValleyCat will appear in the Big Leagues.

Houston Astros top prospect Jordan Lyles will make his Major League debut tonight against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field at 8:00pm.

Lyles was the Astros' minor league pitcher of the year in 2010. During Spring Training, he was one of the Astros' best starters with an ERA of 1.98, but was reassigned to the minor leagues. Prior to tonight, Lyles had a record of 3-3 with a 3.20 ERA for the Triple-A Oklahoma City Redhawks.

The Astros selected the 20-year-old righty out of high school in the supplemental round of the 2008 amateur draft with the 38th overall pick.

He was promoted to Tri-City late in the 2008 season after beginning his rookie season at Greeneville. He only threw 5.2 innings in two starts for the ValleyCats, striking out four and allowing seven walks.

Lyles will be the 21st former ValleyCat to make his Major League debut.

That's why you should check out ValleyCats games at Joe Bruno Stadium - you never know what future MLB star you're going to see.
