Look, you may be bummed that the Mets lost in the World Series. I am too, as a matter of fact.

The Mets bound together New York and kept us all interested in baseball for a few weeks more in the cold of October and November.

But, as you wipe away from the tears of the Mets disappointment, you can rejoice in knowing that the Capital Region shares a connection with the World Series champs.

Kansas City Royals second baseman Ben Zobrist is a former Tri-City ValleyCat! Zobrist was a member of the 2004 'Cats when he was a member of the Houston Astros organization.

And Zobrist is the second member of that team to be crowned a champion, joining Hunter Pence of the Giants, who beat the Royals a year ago - and won in 2012.

Zobrist was a key cog in the Royals machine as he was acquired at the trade deadline from the Oakland A's.
