It was a fast track that took Derek Fisher from Troy to Houston. The 2014 first round pick of the Astros played with the ValleyCats that summer and he found instant success. Fisher was a New York-Penn League All-Star and now, a short three years later, Fisher is a rising star with the World Champion Astros.

In one of the wildest games in World Series history, a couple of former ValleyCats combined to put the finishing touches on Game 5. Joe Musgrove got the win on the mound and Fisher slid across home plate with the game-winning run as the Astros beat the Dodgers 13-12 in 10 innings.

Fisher's speed was routinely on display in his time with the ValleyCats and he showed it off in that Game 5 pinch-running for Brian McCann.
