Freddy Garcia pitched 6 solid innings on Monday night as he collected his 11th win as the New York Yankees defeat the Baltimore Orioles 3-2. Garcia only gave up one run, which was a Mark Reynolds solo home run. Mariano Rivera collected his 34th save and Nick Swisher continued his hot hitting with yet another home run, a 2-run go-ahead shot to give the Yanks the win.

Find out which important Yankee may be missing more time due to injury.

It turns out Alex Rodriguez's thumb may still be more hurt than originally thought. A-Rod was sent for an MRI and while manager Joe Girardi said the MRI was fine, he still is concerned that he may be without the services of A-Rod beyond the Red Sox series upcoming. A-Rod will still travel to Boston with the team but his availability throughout the series is in question.

Meanwhile, coming from injury, Freddy Garcia looked, well, sharp in his first outing since his kitchen cutting incident. Garcia went 6 innings, giving up only 2 hits, one of which was the Mark Reynolds solo home run. He allowed only one walk and struck out 4. Yankee fans should be happy seeing great starts from Bartolo Colon, Freddy Garcia, and Ivan Nova as the Yankees head down the stretch heading towards the playoffs.

Nick Swisher hit yet another home run. He has hit 6 home runs in his last 7 games! Mark Teixeira collected his 100th RBI of the season. With that, he now has 8 straight seasons of at least 30 home runs and 100 RBI.

The Yankees next face the Red Sox in a crucial three game series in which the AL East lead could either turnover yet again or be extended. Yankees will send out CC Sabathia, AJ Burnett, and Phil Hughes in the series.
