For the last month, ever since the big Niskayuna/Shen matchup, we've been chronicling the draft prospects of Nisky senior Garrett Whitley.

Just last week, the outfielder was projected as the No. 1 overall pick in the draft by Baseball Prospectus. Last week he was mocked 13th by Baseball America and the most recent draft projections over there have him as 20th overall.

Regardless of where he goes: Whitley is universally seen as a first-round selection. His rare speed and power combination is what has him so projectable to the next level. WATCH the MLB.com profile to hear the same thing.

Whitley joined me today at 1045theteam.com to talk about the season for the Silver Warriors, handling the scouts and attention that has come this year, if he listens to all the draft hype, and what skill he most wants to work on.

Furthermore, I asked him what player he thought his game resembled and what player he most wanted to be like.

The humble Whitley said his game reminded him of Mike Trout's "Not just because he's the best player in baseball, but I see a lot of things between us that are similar." He pointed out that both are Northeast products, centerfielders, run well, and can hit for power.
