Rivers missed all of the 2011 season with a wrist injury, and also missed significant time his rookie season after shattering his jaw. Rivers was a standout backer at USC and was selected 9th overall in the 2008 NFL draft. If he can stay healthy Rivers has tremendous upside, and will be expected to play a major role for a Giants team that had a revolving door at linebacker last season. Speculation now is that Jerry Reese will move OLB Michael Boley to the middle position to make room for Rivers.

In his two and a half year career as a Bengal, Rivers accrued 186 tackles, 2 sacks and 2 interceptions. He is expected to compete for a starting position with Jacquian Williams who had recorded 78 tackles in his stellar 2011 rookie campaign.
