In a move that is sure to increase tensions between Osi Umenyiora and Giants’ management, the Giants have agreed to a 3 year contract extension with defensive end turned linebacker, Mathias Kiwanuka.

Kiwanuka signed a one year deal with the team last year, after a herniated disc suffered during the 2010 season put his career in jeopardy. Kiwi proved that he was fully recovered during the Giants Super Bowl run, recording a career high 84 tackles. With the loss of Dave Tollefson at back up DE, and the addition of former first round pick Keith Rivers at backer, its very possible that the 29 year old will be asked to play both on and off the line more so than ever before.

The extension is worth $21.75 million.
