“I like their linebackers,” said Whitlock, to “Armen and Levack” on 104.5 The Team. “They play down hill, they’re tough.

“I don’t really know who is going to be playing, so that’s always tough. They got some injuries back there, but other than that they play fast, they’re a good group, if I was a defensive player, this is the kind of defense I would want to be a part of.”

Whitlock is in a unique position when it comes to prepping for games as he plays at the defensive tackle position as well.

“I’ve pretty much had to talk to the film guys because they put the film onto our iPad’s. Every week I go to the film guys and say, ‘Hey don’t forget I need the opposing’s offense film as well.’ They’ll shoot me all the film.  For my defensive film, I usually sit down and watch it from 10 to 11:30 at night, just get it in that way.”

And here’s a fun fact about Whitlock: Armen covered him in high school, heading into his senior year, when he did not have a single Division IA offer (eventually went to Wake Forrest). The Yahoo! Sports photo that’s used as Whitlock’s profile pic? Armen took it back roughly seven years ago.

“Look at that, that’s hilarious. Hey, I loved that neon shirt too.”

Listen to "Armen and Levack", weekdays from 3 to 7p ET, on 104.5 The Team.
