When the all-state basketball teams for Class D, C, and B were announced this morning, you could easily find the name of two Section II stars firmly implanted in the "First-Team" column.

Glens Falls freshman Joe Girard III earned First-Team all-state honors in Class B while Fort Ann junior Tyler Mattison took the same accolade in Class D.

Girard, the super freshman who has already scored more than 1,000 points in his high school career and could break the all-time NYS scoring record held by Lance Stephenson, scored 52 points this season in a single game and added more than 40 on five other occasions, according to the Times Union.

He also shot 239 free throws this season, which was 80 more than the number two player in the area. He's already receiving Division I interest.

Mattison led Fort Ann to a one-loss season in Class D. He scored more than 20 points on 16 occasions this year and put up 53 against Argyle in January.
