The game lived up to its hype.  Glens Falls visited Gloversville in a battle of unbeaten Foothills Council boys basketball teams Friday night and the thriller saw Glens Falls prevail, 49-47.

Gloversville took a 12-10 lead in the first quarter. Glens Falls rallied for a 25-22 advantage at halftime, and a big 17-5 third-quarter margin gave Glens Falls the upper hand, 42-27, going into the fourth quarter.

But, the game wasn't over by a longshot.

Gloversville rallied and outscored Glens Falls, 20-7, but just fell short despite two valiant attempts in the final seconds.

Lee Girard sank a foul shot with 13 seconds left to give Glens Falls the lead, 49-47. The Dragons had two attempts at the basket but came up empty.

Cam Girard paced Glens Falls with 17 points while Devin Zurlo contributed 12 points and 12 rebounds.

For Gloversville, Jake McCloskey popped in 10 points.

Glens Falls leads the tight Foothills race with an 8-0 record and 10-2 overall while Gloversville slipped to 7-1, 8-4.

The schedule doesn't get any easier for Gloversville visiting Queensbury on Friday, Jan. 27 and Scotia-Glenville on Tuesday, Jan. 31.
