Goz’s Weekly College Basketball Top 25 Poll (Week 3)
This season I’ll be providing my own personal Top 25 poll each week during the college basketball season. My poll philosophy is ranking the teams I believe are the best twenty five best in the country following that given week’s games. These rankings tip off this week and will run until January, when then we shift our projections to "mock brackets" . The complete poll is listed below. (This Poll was conducted at 930pm Tuesday November 22nd)
1) Kentucky
2) Indiana
3) North Carolina
4) Villanova
5) Kansas
6) Duke
7) Virginia
8) Arizona
9) Xavier
10) Louisivlle
11) Creighton
12) Gonzaga
13) Syracuse
14) UCLA
15) St.Mary's
16) Michigan State
17) Wisconsin
18) West Virginia
19) Rhode Island
20) Purdue
21) Baylor
22) Iowa State

24) Maryland
25) Florida State
Some Top 25 Match ups Move the Poll- Creighton gets a big boost almost into the top 10 after they defeated Wisconsin by more than double digits. Rhode Island also bumped up a few spots as they defeated Cincinnati who was ranked last week. I can't move Michigan State or Wisconsin too far down after their respective losses to top tier teams.
Oregon Already Out of Top 25? Too Quick?- The Ducks made it all the way to the Elite 8 last season but so far it's been a rough start for the team from Eugene. Last week it was a loss to Baylor, now it's a loss to Georgetown. The Hoyas played Maryland tight but it's the same team that lost to Arkansas State. It may be at least two week before we put the Ducks back into our Top 25.
Speaking of Georgetown-This poll was done while the Hoyas were competing against Wisconsin. The Badgers are a Top 25 team but a loss to the Hoyas could bump them out of the top 25. Even a double digit win for Georgetown would not yet be enough for me to put them into even the top 30 discussion. They still need to do a few more things to rebound from the Arkansas State loss.
