A gun shop in Chicago is raffling off an AR-15 semi-automatic weapon to benefit victims in the Orlando night club shooting. Yup…It's real.

From todays Times Union:

"A suburban Chicago gun shop is raffling a semi-automatic weapon to benefit victims of the nightclub shooting in Orlando. Second Amendment Sports in McHenry, Illinois, is selling tickets for $5 to win an AR-15 rifle similar to the one gunman Omar Mateen used when he opened fire in a gay nightclub June 12, leaving 49 people dead and 53 injured. It was the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history."

I support gun rights but this is just in real bad taste. When I read this story at first, I was like this has got to be a bad joke but nope…it's real. Normally I think a gun raffle is cool as long as the winner meets all the standards needed to own that gun but to use that tragedy to promote your gun shop just means your an A1 A-hole. If you think this is cool how bout these:

  • use Anne Frank to promote safe attics
  • John Wayne Gacy for kids clown parties
  • Jeffery Dahmer for the food bank
