The defending Super Bowl Champion New York Giants suffered a set back today, losing star receiver Hakeem Nicks for 12 weeks. According to various reports, Nicks fractured the fifth metatarsal of his right foot during the Giants second OTA.

The team announced the injury early today, saying that Nicks will undergo surgery soon. Although losing 12 Nicks for most of the summer is certainly an inconvenience, the anticipated 12 week recovery would mean that he’ll be ready to play against the Dallas Cowboys on Opening Night. Last season Nicks had 76 receptions for 1,192 yards and 7 TDs.
