1 of the greatest hitters in baseball history will be back in the dugout for his beloved ball club.

The Kansas City Royals announced that Brett, 1 of the game's greatest 3rd baseman, will take over on an interim basis the job of hitting instructor.

The Royals have been mired in a prolonged slump, losing 8 straight and overall for the month of May, the Royals are only 7-19.

Kansas City's offense is 27th in baseball with a lot of young talent on the roster. The Royals designated hitting coach Jack Maloof and his assistant Andre David to minor league assignments.

Brett currently serves as the Royals Vice president of baseball operations. he just turned 60 years old.

Of course New Yorkers remember Brett for 2 main reasons. The pine tar incident and the great battles between Kansas City and the Yankees back in the 70's and 80's.
