Only a couple of months from his time starting at Brewster Academy, the best high school basketball player in the Capital Region and a top 100 recruit nationally, something clicked in Hameir Wright's mind and heart. The Albany Academy product had scholarship offers and interest from just about every major division I program and the year at prep school was a way of buying time to digest everything before making a life-changing decision. Then, Saturday morning arrived. Wright had visited the University of Washington last week and there it was: the fit he had been searching for.

The Huskies program is now led by a coach who has been in touch with Hameir since his freshman year at Academy. That's when Mike Hopkins, as Jim Boeheim's top assistant, was recruiting Wright to Syracuse. The comfort of that relationship ultimately landed Wright in the Great Northwest.

Hameir Wright joined Big Board Sports to further explain why this choice was something of a revelation for him.
