Today happens to be the birthday of Yankee third baseman Alex Rodriguez.  He turns 36, and it's hard to believe that we have been watching him in the majors for almost 20 years.

For those of us who grew up in the 90's we remember Alex Rodriguez as the skinny kid who use to steal bases left and right for the Seattle Mariners.  These days his performance is more based on power.

A-Rod was the youngest player to hit 500 home runs and has 14 seasons where he has gotten at least 100 RBI's.  No other player in history shares that honor. He is also the all-time home run leader of Spanish decent.  Quite the resume he has built, and he is far from done.

Right now he is on the disabled list and won't be coming back to the Yankees until mid August, but we wish him a very speedy recovery. He is almost halfway through his latest contract, 10 years with the Yankees, so we will be celebrating a few more birthdays with A-Rod.  Happy 36th!
