His first day on the job was Kevin Huerter's first day in the Hawks building. As a first-year head coach, Lloyd Pierce was getting a look at some of the potential draft picks this year and among them was the Shenendehowa grad who had climbed many teams' charts after his performance at the NBA Combine.

Almost no matter who you ask, Huerter's proficient shooting is the first skill mentioned, but Pierce says he saw so much more when he watched the then-Maryland guard. Huerter's ball-handling, passing and high basketball IQ stood out and those qualities are what vaulted Huerter into 'NBA ready' for Hawks talent evaluators.

One day after Kevin Huerter was officially introduced as a member of the Hawks, his head coach joined Big Board Sports and Pierce shared his perspective on the three-time NewsChannel 13 All-Star and what his immediate impact can be as a rookie.
