Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota is the odds-on favorite to take home the award for the nation's best player. He threw for 3,783 yards this season, along with 38 TDs and just 2 interceptions. He also ran for 649 yards and 14 TDs in helping Oregon to the No. 2 playoff ranking.

Joining Mariota in New York will be Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon. Despite the Badgers 59-0 loss to Ohio State in the Big 10 title game, Gordon established himself as the best back in the country. He ran for 2,336 yards and 26 TDs. He also ran for a then-NCAA best 408 yards against Nebraska in November.

Finally, rounding out the Heisman hopefuls is Alabama WR Amari Cooper. A dynamic playmaker, Cooper led the No. 1 Crimson Tide with 1,656 yards and 14 touchdowns.
