It's not the NHL's big boys, but the ice was frozen, the game was played and they kept score. The Albany Devils opened the 2012 pre-season schedule with a 5-3 win over the Adirondack Phantoms on Tuesday night in Vorhees, New Jersey.

Mike Sislo and David Wahlberg each scored a pair of goals for the Devils. Raman Hrabarenka scored the 5th goal for Albany.

The Devils came out flying, exhibition or not they were on the fly from the start scoring three goals in the first 7:41 of the first period. Danny Syvret of the Phantoms put his team on the board before the end of the first 20 minutes.

The Devils split goaltending duties between Keith Kinkaid and Scott Wedgewood. They combined to frustrate the Phantoms, stopping 45 of 48 shots.

Game two of the warm up schedule is set for Wednesday night when the Devils travel to Cromwell, Connecticut for a match with the Connecticut Whale.
