It's a little old, and I know that, but on Saturday night Shaker graduate Jeff Hoffman pitched very well in his debut performance at AA for the New Hampshire FisherCats.

Hoffman, the No. 9 pick in last year's draft, pitched for the Dunedin Blue Jays (High-A) all season until he was called up last week. He went 3-3 with a 3.21 for Dunedin of the Florida State League.

On Saturday, he went 6.1 innings, surrendering two earned runs and five hits against Portland. He struck out three and walked zero.

Hoffman's control has been good across both levels this year. He's has only 15 walks in 62.1 total innings.

Hoffman, along with Daniel Norris, Aaron Sanchez, Marcus Stroman and Drew Hutchinson give the Blue Jays a very talented core of young pitchers.

Hoffman missed all of last season after the draft due to Tommy John Surgery. Toronto still drafted him No. 9. Hoffman is one of several Capital Region natives playing in pro baseball.
