Shaker High School graduate Jeff Hoffman has been chosen to play in MLB's Futures game held on July 10th at Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres and the 2016 All-Star Game. The 18th annual Futures Game is a way for the MLB to show off the young talent and possible future stars of the game.

The MLB gathers the greatest U.S. prospects and the best international prospects and puts them on one field to go head-to-head. The rosters for the U.S. Team and World Team are selected by Baseball America, Major league Baseball, and the Scouting Bureau.

Hoffman is currently a member of the Albuquerque Isotopes of the Pacific Coast League. He's had a decent season and is expected to be called up sometime this season as the Rockies fall out of the NL West race.

Hoffman has started 15 games for the Isotopes thus far this season and is 4-5 with a 3.49 ERA to go along with his 88 strikeouts.

Past stars who played in the game include Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera, Angels outfielder Mike Trout, Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa, and Marlins flamethrower Jose Fernandez along with many others.

Hoffman is one of two Colorado Rockies prospects playing in the game as Ramiel Tapia will represent the World Team in the game.

The game can be seen on MLB Network on July 10th at 4 p.m.
