The first almost-full night of high school basketball is in the books. Most teams opened up Tuesday, but some will open Friday and others will play their first game next week.

The best of the best: Jahlil Nails (Columbia), last year's Suburban Council Player of the Year, had 33 points in the Blue Devils win over Colonie. Andrew Platek (Guilderland) had 32 in the Dutchmen's win over Bethlehem while Matthew Riker had 30 for the Eagles in the loss.

Chris Boucher had 31 for Fort Edward in their win over Salem and reigning Class C Player of the Year John Rooney poured in 28 for Hoosic Valley in a win over Hudson Falls.

Joel Wincowski (Lake George) had 25 points as his team defeated Warrensburg. The versatile guard can go to the hoop and can dial it up from long distance.
