As the Shenendehowa Boys' basketball team prepares to defend its New York State Class AA title this weekend at the Glens Falls Civic Center, individual accolades continue to pour in for star Kevin Huerter.

This is the highest honor in the state. The Maryland-bound senior has led Shen to the state final four for the second straight year. His court vision, shooting ability, passing ability, height and length make him a dynamic prospect for the next level.

These reasons are why Huerter fielded interest from more than 20 colleges including Syracuse, Xavier, Texas Tech, Creighton, Notre Dame and Marquette.

He is the best player in the Capital Region and is the biggest college prospect to come out of this area since Jimmer Fredette after the 2007 season.

Huerter has averaged 21.6 ppg this year for the Plainsmen. He could have averaged more, but Shen won by so many in some games that he didn't even need to play in the fourth quarter.
