There was an old-fashioned donnybrook between two AHL teams on St. Patrick’s Day.  Check out all of the action right here.

The Chicago Wolves and the Rockford IceHogs dropped the gloves with authority on Sunday.  Rockford was able to beat the Wolves 2-1.  Chicago’s Guillaume Desbeins checked Rockford’s Jeremy Morin into Rockford’s bench at the end of the game.  A full-blown brawl took place after the check.

There were a total of 174 penalty minutes dished out following the fight.  You what’s funny; this brawl made me think of Super Bowl XLVII.  During the Ravens 34-31 win over the 49ers, there was a fight.  Many fans wanted cornerback Cary Williams to be ejected after he pushed an official.  The push was accidental, so he was allowed to stay in the game.

Look closely as the officials in this hockey brawl get pushed around and elbowed.  Desbeins is being held around the waist by an official as he continued to throw punches.  Desbeins did not receive a game misconduct.

It’s funny to me that many fans wanted Cary Williams to be thrown out of the Super Bowl for lightly pushing an official accidentally during a fight.  This hockey brawl is another indication that every player that accidentally contacts an official during a fight is not automatically thrown out of the game.  Just sayin.
