If you're a bobblehead collector, you need to get to Joe Bruno Stadium on Monday night.

The ValleyCats will give away bobblehead dolls of All-Star outfielder and former Tri-City star Hunter Pence before Monday evening’s game against the Staten Island Yankees.

The giveaway, one of two bobblehead nights this season at Joe Bruno Stadium, is part of “Joe to the Show Night,” honoring the 21 former ‘Cats who have reached the major leagues.  There will only be 1,000 bobbleheads available so get there early. The gates open at 6:00pm.

Pence played for the National League as the sole representative of the Houston Astros in last night's MLB All-Star game.  He went 1 for 2 with a run scored.  He also made an outfield assist on a play at the plate in the 4th inning as he threw out Toronto's Jose Bautista.  This marks the second time that the 28-year-old outfielder has been selected by his fellow players to make the All-Star team; he was named to the roster in 2009 but did not appear in the game.

One of the first ValleyCats to reach the major leagues, Pence is enjoying the finest season of his five-year career. Houston’s right fielder leads the Astros in most offensive categories, including batting average (.323), slugging percentage (.496), home runs (11) and runs batted in (60).

Pence, a 2nd-round selection in the 2004 MLB Draft, made his professional debut in Troy that summer. He batted .296, slugged .518 and swatted eight home runs in 51 games, helping lead the ValleyCats to their first of three Stedler Division titles.

The bobblehead dolls will be given away before the ‘Cats play at 7 p.m. on Monday, closing a three-game series against the Yankees.  For ticket information, visit the ValleyCats website.
