The after effects of the devastating hurricane that destroyed the Jersey Shore and has reeked havoc and devastation in many metropolitan areas has hit the college sports world as well. Obviously the fun and games will pick up again and soon but lives ruined will take much time to heal and repair.

The Siena mans soccer finale as well as all MAAC soccer games have been called off for this weekend. The Saints were scheduled to take on Iona on Friday and then close out the season at Fairfield on Sunday have been cancelled and won't be made up.

Commissioner of the MAAC conference Rich Ensor had this to say about calling off the the final weekend of regular season games " Since all the teams that qualify for the men's soccer championship have been determined it has been decided that the teams will be able to earn the automatic NCAA berth on the field and playing games in the storm impacted regions for seed lines wasn't practical. In some cases , MAAC campuses are closed because of power or water issues, lack of food services or housing issues. The league priority is to support the recovery efforts, not add to the challenges these communities are facing."

4 teams from the MAAC have already qualified for the tournament and their seedings are determined. Siena finishes the season at 10-6, 6-1 in the conference and will have the 2nd seed. They will tangle with Niagara, the 3rd seed in the conference semifinals on Thursday, November 8th....
