Lost in the shuffle is among the best ways to describe Hudson Valley Community College.

The other is bustling. Simply put, HVCC is often the place to be if you are a Capital Region sports fan.

With so much going on in the 518, it’s common for people to forget what a great resource the college has been and continues to be. But you shouldn’t forget that again.

Hudson Valley will be the spot of 11 Section II boys’ basketball matchups this weekend alone. Three games on Friday, five on Saturday and three more on Sunday. Some of the best basketball in the Albany-Area will be played at the home of the Vikings.

Class B takes the stage on Friday night with games starting at 5:00. Four Class AA games Saturday and one Class C game fill the Saturday schedule with play starting at 12:00.

Class A takes center stage on Sunday with play starting at 1:00.

Not to be outdone by basketball, Conway Ice Rink will be the site of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Frozen Four on Saturday and Sunday.

Play starts at 3:00 on Saturday with the second national semifinal taking place at 6:30. The championship game is at 2:00 on Sunday.

Upcoming

The girls’ basketball sectionals take their games to HVCC next Thursday and Saturday. And both girls’ and boys’ basketball regional tournaments will be held at the college on March 8th.

And finally, as the snow begins to melt and we head toward the spring season, Joe Bruno Stadium will be the site of several key high school baseball matchups and the Section II championship.

The point is clear. If you need a local sporting event to go to, you can probably find it at Hudson Valley.
