I remember attending my first Harlem Globetrotters game like it was yesterday.  And yesterday, I actually saw the Globetrotters again - live in person.

The 'Trotters were taking on the Washington Generals at the Times Union Center and I took my son, Zachary and my wife, Francine.  Neither of them had ever been to a Harlem Globetrotters game before so I wanted to show them why I still love them after all these years.

The last time I saw the Globetrotters was back in 1985 at the Capital Centre in Landover, Maryland.  I remember that my mom had got the tickets for my 14th birthday.  I couldn't wait to go and see them.  I watched their cartoon and had seen them in Scooby Doo episodes.  They were even on Gilligan's Island once (although I'm not sure how they got there or how they left - but shouldn't they have taken Gilligan and his crew back with them?).

Little has changed since then - except the names on the back of the jerseys.  They've got amazing ball-handling skills, their dunks are insane and they love to make people laugh.  Check out the video below if you don't believe me!  I still enjoyed it as much now as I did when I was 14.

My wife had a great time while my son, Zachary - well, let's just say he's a little too young to appreciate the fine art of beating the Washington Generals senseless.  Zach played his Dora game on his Mobigo the entire 2nd half!

Overall, the Globetrotters are still one of the most entertaining and family friendly things you can do today!
