After Jeff Hoffman's (Shaker) selection in the first round of the 2014 MLB Draft and Garrett Whitley's (Niskayuna) first-round selection in 2015, the Capital Region MLB pipeline is hot right now.

And it just keeps getting hotter. Shenendehowa rising senior Ian Anderson is rapidly gaining traction as a bona fide 2016 draft prospect.

The flamethrowing right-hander pitched yesterday in the Perfect Game All-America Classic, a showcase all-star game featuring 50 of the top prep players in the country.

Anderson is currently the No. 3 prospect in the country, and is the top ranked player in New York, regardless of position.

Anderson worked a scoreless inning last night at the game, held at Petco Park in San Diego, Calif. He had one walk and two strikeouts without allowing a hit.

He was hitting 91-94 MPH on the stadium radar gun, but the broadcast on MLB Network indicated the gun may be a tick slow, so Anderson could have been hitting as high as 95 MPH. He also featured a curveball that ranged between 73-77 MPH and an 84 MPH changeup.

We brought in national expert Nathan Rode today of the Prep Baseball Report to talk about Anderson's draft prospects. He's already committed to play baseball at Vanderbilt.
