Is Albert Pujols Greedy?

Sometimes I wonder what fans are thinking or if they are thinking before they speak. The latest to face fan backlash is the great Albert Pujols who may become sports 2nd biggest villian after signing a hefty deal with the Angels on Thursday. For some reason Lebron James remains the reigning king of hate directed by fans.Yes I can see why–NOT! he took less to play in a more desired location now Albert is a bad guy-why cause he took over 50 million more in a new deal with the Angels. I love when Joe Q fan whines about greedy athletes. Right cause you Mr or Mrs fan wouldn’t take 50 million more from a willing buyer right? No not you Joe Fan you would stay “loyal” to your previous team right? Wrong! We aren’t talking nickles here folks we are talking huge greenbacks to the tune of over 5 mill per season more that Albert got from the Angels then his previous employer the Cardinals offered up. With the Angels Pujols is now the top paid 1st baseman which he deserves to be. The Cards offer would have made him 4th at that position.

When you think about just how much 50+million is well the choice is easy. As an aside he gets to go to California where he will be an icon especially for the latino community. He gets out of the cold weather winters and hot-humid summers. I guess Mad baseball fan that doesn’t matter either. Lebron took LESS to play inĀ  a better climate with a better club and is villified to this day. Makes no sense to me. I would suggest to the bitter fans who can’t handle the business of sport that perhaps a new hobby or form of entertainment might be best for you. Of course since fans like to try and inject their lives into the business with bogus claims how they wouldn’t take the dough then weather, lifestyle, etc aren’t important to you when considering a job change..SUUUUURE they aren’t. It should also be mentioned that on paper it seems the Angels will be a better club this coming year then the Cardinals…St Looie has a new manager, inferior pitching and now a lesser lineup in addition to how difficult it is to repeat yet angry fan this shouldn’t matter either right?

In my view only a fool would turn down over 50 mill more, money that can do a lot of good as Albert is a charitable guy and also has a family he wants to take care of. Now tell me what’s not noble about that? For those who are bitter about players making big dollars to play the games we love I would suggest a more serene hobby like taking in movies–Oh wait these actors and actresses makes millions for their work but no one ever talks about that. perhaps read more books–Oh wait authors make millions for their handy work. So you see the “he is not loyal” or “he is greedy” card doesn’t play and makes no sense. Albert gave Cardinal fans what they were owed. he worked hard, tried hard, played hard and earned every dollar he has made and that’s all we fans should expect. he wasn’t a trouble maker, didn’t tangle with the law, gave effort and won 2 titles. No Albert owes Cardinal fans no more and for fans who can’t accept that athletes who perform and even some that don’t get paid well it is time to find something else to enjoy…
